AryavartaAI was founded in Bengaluru in 2023 by a group of researchers and engineers who had spent years working at frontier AI labs abroad and returned home with a shared question: why doesn't the most powerful AI in the world speak Tamil, or understand a Sanskrit shloka?
The answer wasn't technical — the methods existed. What was missing was the will, the data, and the cultural investment. So we built it.
We started with AryaMini, a compact multilingual model that could run on modest hardware and understand 12 Indian languages. Within six months, over 50,000 developers had integrated it into applications serving tens of millions of users.
Today, AryavartaAI is a team of 280 researchers, engineers, and product designers spread across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi — working toward a single mission: sovereign, safe, beneficial AI that draws its strength from the world's oldest living knowledge tradition.
